Investigates maternal comfort by echoing the cradling in a renaissance “Mother and Child” work. Set in my current bedroom, the collage includes patterns from clothes my mom has worn since we lived in Brazil to emphasize her cultural-feminine influences on my identity, and how she represents home and childhood nostalgia to me. Flat patterns and soft forms draw from Mary Cassatt's The Child's Bath and plush oil-painted bedsheets originate from Joaquin Sorolla's Luministic style in Mother.
