Saudades “The Feeling of Missing”

The competing feelings of connection and distance when calling long-distance loved ones. Layered patterns, inspired by Paisagem Inutil by Luiz Zerbini, and dual photographs of my friend from Brazil in her room, inspired by Mark Shaw's Audrey Hepburn, reflect my mental image of a distant Brazil; my friend’s perspective calling me. The soft bed, reminiscent of Joshua Hagler's acrylic work Nocturne, furthers these dual emotions by contrasting with geometric numbers, drawing from Bratsa Bonifacho.
